Living in Ascension

"God is calling you to a higher place."

That is something you've probably heard on more than one occasion in your life, especially if you've been in or around church. What does it mean though? Many people who say it, correlate it to living a better life, not indulging in "serious" sin or that God wants to advance you and promote you in your situation.

Those are all true statements, yes, but at some point we can't eat the pre-chewed infant formula style words of a minister, and we have to start diving deeper into what it is that God is saying to us.

On March 14, 2019, I was attending a very powerful church gathering, and before the meetings opened I was being prayed over in the building next door by members of the prophetic prayer team of the hosting church. That's when I went into a vision from heaven.

I found myself at the base of a mountain, alone and in silence. No animals, paths or sounds. As I looked up I saw a man standing ahead of me, he was of great age yet somewhat youthful. He wore what appeared to be something like a white tunic, and he held a wooden staff in his left hand that he walked with. His face featured a white beard with a little bit of length to it but not too long, his hair was also white, but slightly balding on the top. I didn't know for certain who it was, but I have a pretty strong suspicion. There were no words spoken, but I knew I was supposed to follow him where he went.

As he ascended the mountain I followed closely behind. It seemed as though not much time had past, but we found ourselves at the peak of this mountain. It was higher than any mountain top I had ever seen, it pushed above the clouds and there were no creatures who could follow us due to the elevation and the rarefied air. As I began to look around, I knew I was again in solidarity. Standing there completely alone, I instantly knew why I was there.

This was the place where I needed to live. I was being called to a standard of living at such a higher elevation; a place above the snake line, where no serpent would dare go because of the extreme altitude. God had called me to occupy a place where only He and I could dwell, and that there would be, not a visitation, but a habitation of God's holiness and presence.

As I came out of the vision, I knew that God had indeed been speaking to me, that I needed to step foot on the highway to holiness and choose to live in a place of union with God, where no distraction or serpent could steal my attention away from Him.     

I am here to tell you that God is looking for a generation of people who desire Him enough to trek above the snake line and go after Him, in a biblical kind of pursuit that separates you from the world,  not just for a moment or 90 minutes (or less) per week on Sundays. He desires people who hunger for true sonship, so much so that they will step out in faith that He will sustain them and leave all that is familiar and find Him.

God is calling you to a deeper place at a higher elevation, a new territory that will require holiness and a deliberate seeking of a real, loving Father who is faithful to meet you wherever you are, and take you to a new standard of holiness.
