A Season of New Things
Have you been in a season of unclear direction? You might be confident in what you were supposed to be doing, or have been doing, but you know there is something new coming and you don't know what your steps are. Don't be discouraged, God is doing a new thing, and He's waiting for you to say yes to him.
You may be thinking, "He knows that I say yes to Him," but let me assure you, God desires you to say yes, to not just His will, but His will--His way. Often times we pray "Lord, Your will be done" and when we begin to see His will, we go about it, often times even carrying it out to fruition, but in our way. God may be telling you to step out in faith and trust Him with what He asks you to do, and we find a "comfortable" way to do it. Did we carry out His request? Sure, maybe. Did we trust Him and do it His way? Often times the answer is: not really. We don't want to be perceived as a fanatic or look stupid, so we'll do what He asks in our own way. We need to come to a place of "Your will, Your way" to unlock what He really wants to do through you.
If you are looking for the next step, it is going to require faith, unusual faith even. Believing in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is an act of faith to many people, but following God no matter how much it costs you? That's unusual faith. I believe why so many have stunted growth and development in their gifting and don't reach their designed purpose is that we say that we are hungry, but we don't act as hungry as we say. Just as children say "I'm so hungry" and when the food is placed before them they say "I'm not hungry for that" and turn their nose up to it, so has the body of Christ to their gifts and purposes. We tell God "I'm hungry, but not that hungry. That's not what I wanted to do." If you want to hear from God, step into your call, and encounter Him, you need to be hungry. We need to be in His presence daily. The more time we spend in His presence the more He will reveal things to us. The more we believe, the more we will experience. We believe for a touch of His presence, but how different would we be if we believe for a habitation of His presence?
As you begin to make time for Him, to believe Him for more and begin to sacrifice time at His feet, you will hear from Him, and He will also bring a confirmation through someone or something to affirm what He has said to you. But, as you receive from Him, you must not make the mistake that many Christians, and even pastors, make. You cannot say "Well, God said it, therefore it will happen. Let's wait and see it come to pass." You have a responsibility to speak it, declare it and believe for it. Do not sit idly and say "that will come later" or "God will send someone to do that for us." Be actively progressing towards God's Word for you. You can in fact miss what God has prepared for you, you can allow it to expire. You must not allow it to pass you by. Speak it over yourself, over your ministry. Thank God, not only for the Word, but for the development and fruition of the Word. Give a thanks offering to the Lord, just as they did in the Bible. Do not allow yourself to miss what God has for you, be hungry, speak life and offer him thanksgiving.
As you come to cross your new bridge, you will have to leave some things behind. You may have to leave old relationships behind. God is always doing a new thing and there are things God does not intend for you to take forward with you. Do not forget that you have an enemy, and he attempts to prevent you from prosperity and reaching your call. There will be friction, there will be resistance and there may be some hurtful things that occur as you prepare to move into His will. Do not allow the enemy's plan to derail you from bearing fruit. Don't be stunted, don't worry about people pleasing, don't be bothered by what God is breaking you away from. Stay pure, press into God. What may come against you God will use to give you a clean break, launching you forward and leaving the anchors behind. You'll be unstuck from something that is not intended to move forward with you.
To hear from Him you must prioritize Him. Sit as His feet, praise Him, worship Him, exalt Him. You will develop your ear to hear His voice and He will speak to you and set your path before you. It is our responsibility to co-create the future with Him when we hear, speak, and prophesy.
