Walking in Obedience
2019 is the year of transition for many, and transition is a place that I have found myself residing in. God is beckoning us into a new place, where He can have our undivided attention and we can cultivate an intimate relationship with our Father. It is in this place that my vision has been transformed, where my perspective has been revolutionized and coming into alignment with God's.
So in this place of transition I have been asking, seeking, and knocking..."what am I supposed to be doing? What is the big picture? What does the process look like?"
Holy Spirit began to speak within me so clearly and loud. It was the still small voice, but it was unmistakable what He said to me:
"I know the plans I have for you."
One quick sentence, simple and yet profound. They are the words of Jeremiah 29:11, and although it may not seem like much, hearing that has brought so much peace and purpose. I instantly understood the confirmation that He was inviting me to rest in the trust of His leadership. It pleases Him when we live by faith, and although in the present we cannot see our next step, He is reassuring you "I know the plans I have for you."
I began thanking Him and praising Him for His words, the assurance we have in Him and for the perfect guide that He is. As I thanked Him I began to read my Bible. As I read, God highlighted something as He continued to speak to me, now through His written Word:
If you will only obey me,
you will have plenty to eat.
Isaiah 1:19 (NLT)
When you obey you will have more than enough. Your cup will overflow. You become the lender and not the borrower. The head and not the tail. Above only and not beneath. Its how we are able to fully engage with the Psalm 23 lifestyle. Obedience is the doorway to positioning yourself for your miracle. It will launch you to your next step, your next level and your destiny in God. If you find yourself in a place of uncertainty, feeling lost or in the unknown, obedience leads to Heaven's purpose for your life.
If you're unsure of what obedience looks like in your current situation, you need to open your Bible and begin to pray. I don't mean the wish list prayer, get into the secret place with Him. Meditate on Him, worship in the Spirit and begin to focus upon Him. Get into the place where you are no longer speaking, but listening, and you will hear His voice. If you search for the spectacular you will miss the supernatural. God is speaking to you always, you must learn to discipline yourself to listen. If you're still unsure, go back to the last time you heard His voice and begin to meditate on Him from that position.
Obedience and thankfulness with be the traits that will bless your Father and ignite your path in His perfect will. He delights in you and desires to have intimacy with you. When you begin to seek Him deeper you will begin to encounter His presence. As you begin to know Holy Spirit as a friend, living in faith becomes an exciting opportunity to bless Him.
It is important to remember that obedience will not always be easy, more often than not it will require great sacrifice. Following Him will cost you. Following Him completely will cost you everything. But the more you lay down for Jesus, and the more you give up for His will, the greater reward you shall have (Matthew 19:29).
